The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) posts regular product recalls and safety alerts. Archived information is currently posted since January 2010, and the FDA has stated that information dating from 2004 to present will soon be online and searchable on its website. Most recently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published an online tool for shell eggs and egg products that have been included in the 2010 egg recall. This tool includes a search feature that allows users to input plant numbers, Julian dates, brand names and UPC codes to determine if a specific product has been recalled. The information is also offered in list form with links to a description of a product and its packaging, plant and UPC codes, Julian dates, and in some cases, a picture of the product's label. This list can be viewed online or downloaded as Excel, XML or PDF files.
