White House Open Government Directive Released

Yesterday, the White House released a directive with instructions and deadlines for executive departments and agencies for implementing the goals set forth in President Obama's January 21 Memorandum on Transparency and Open Government.  It lists specific plans to be completed in time frames ranging from 45 to 120 days in the following areas:

  • 1.  Publishing more government information online.
  • 2.  Improving the quality of government information.
  • 3.  Creating and institutionalizing a culture of open government.
  • 4.  Creating an enabling policy framework for open government.

Read the details of these goals in White House's Open Government Directive and the Open Government Progress Report to the American People.  For agency-specific progress related to the Open Government Directive, each agency will be responsible for establishing web pages at http://[agency].gov/open within the next two months.
